What's for dinner?
Tuna salad, fried potatoes and watermelon

I like to try new and interesting recipes, especially those that use less or no meat.  I cook for myself and occasionally for a friend or a few friends.  I wish I had a 5,000 calorie per day requirement but the truth is that it's more like 1800.  So I like to spend my few calories wisely.

I love using BigOven's iPhone app.  I never have to consult a recipe book much anymore to find cool recipes to try.  I keep it by my side in the kitchen when I am making new recipes.  I've found quite a few here that I like and I enjoy being able to keep track of them.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

The cookies are dry and crumbly but it's a great taste combination, so next time I will add less flour or not bake them quite as long.

Basic Guacamole

Basic Guacamole

It seemed too salty to me. I added tomatoes and a little chopped celery just to use it up. It was good. Next timeI'll cut the salt down.

Chewy Molasses Ginger Cookies

Chewy Molasses Ginger Cookies

Very easy cookie recipe - not super sweet, which is a welcome change. Good taste. I doubled the recipe and froze half of them. It worked well. Do eat one right out the oven - yum!

Zesty Grilled Potatoes

Zesty Grilled Potatoes

Liked taste. I cut the potatoes into quarters and put them on a skewer. It was easy and people liked the taste. I think I might put more oil on them next time to try and get a crispier exterior. Or perhaps an egg. I'm not sure, but they do need to be crispier.

Blueberry Dessert By Joyce

Blueberry Dessert By Joyce

I loved this dessert and so did everyone who ate it. The only reason I gave it a four was that it has a lot of sugar and butter. Extremely tasty but it has to be caloric.

No-Bake Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookies

No-Bake Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookies

I like this cookie recipe because it can be served to vegetarians, unlike many cookies. It's tasty and moist for about three days, then it dries out and gets crumbly. I've made it several times and recommend it to you.

I substituted bacon and tomato bits for the caviar and it was great. My guests loved it and wanted the recipe.

Smoked Salmon and Lemon-Cream Cheese on Crostini

Smoked Salmon and Lemon-Cream Cheese on Crostini

Very tasty. Relatively easy and quick to make. My guests liked it, even though I think I toasted the bread too long.
