I love the smells of summer. When everyone has their BBQ going and the smell of the meat grilling. I love fresh foods with lots of flavour. I used to be afraid of trying new things but once I got over the fear of "weird" ingredients I found I love so many different flavours.

Turkey and Sweet Potato Shepherds Pie

Turkey and Sweet Potato Shepherds Pie

This wasn't bad but needed some work. Despite adding more garlic and garlic cream cheese the potatoes were bland. I'd probably add more sweet potato instead of russets. Added the hot sauce but would add more. Will make again but it will need more flavour. 2/24/2012
Maple Teriyaki Salmon Fillets

Maple Teriyaki Salmon Fillets

This wasn't bad for an easy, quick recipe. I only marinated it for about an hour and it could definitely have used more marination time. It's a good recipe to keep on hand though since I usually have all the ingredients but I don't think it'll be my go-to salmon recipe. — RKG1 1/3/2012
Garlic chili prawns

Garlic chili prawns

Didn't love this. Was hoping for something different and spicy but got plain and bland instead. It wasn't bad but it just didn't have much flavour despite me putting in much more chili than it called for. — africanaussie 1/3/2012
Crockpot French Dip

Crockpot French Dip

This was a really good and easy recipe. I don't make roasts very often and when we do it's on the BBQ but I love beef dip sandwiches so this was perfect. I followed the recipe exactly other than using light soy sauce and not using as much onion and it turned out great. I found I wasn't able to slice the meat that neatly though because it was so tender it just fell apart. The husband was a little leary at first about the swiss cheese and broiling it but it was a nice change and toasted the buns just enough. I will definitely make this again. — Tinkerbell5280 1/3/2012
Dana's Chicken Spagetti

Dana's Chicken Spagetti

While this wasn't horrible it wasn't that great either. Found it very bland and there was way too much butter in it. I won't even bother making it again with adjustments because it just didn't wow me. — PamelaCarr 12/15/2011
The Best Fried Rice

The Best Fried Rice

This was a great and easy recipe to make. I made the rice a few hours before and had it in the fridge till I was ready for it and it still worked out. I didn't add the shrimp as this was a side dish for another protein. Also we aren't fans of peas so I put in some frozen corn instead. This is a really adaptable recipe and you can add/remove so many different ingredients depending on your tastes. This is a keeper for sure! 11/21/2011
Bourbon Chicken

Bourbon Chicken

This was really good and very easy to make. I did add only 1/4 cup soy sauce like other posters mentioned but still found it too salty. I would cut back on that a bit more next time. We didn't find it too spicey so I would probably add more red pepper flakes as well. I'll definitely make this again. — Firebyrd 11/21/2011
Blueberry Cream Muffins

Blueberry Cream Muffins

What a great recipe! Very easy to follow and the muffins were delicious. Moist and perfect. My husband isn't a fan of baked goods and he took 3 to work with him. My only issue was that the blueberries I put on top at the end of the recipe came out with all the flour still on them. Next time I will keep some aside without the flour mixture on them. Other than that small issue these were wonderful. Can't wait to make them again! — sgrishka 8/11/2011
Spicy Maple Broiled Salmon

Spicy Maple Broiled Salmon

Simple and delicious. Didn't find it spicy at all but the flavour was really nice. Will definitely keep this one handy. — RKG1 5/31/2011
Dark Balsamic, Soy and Honey Glazed Grilled Northwest Salmon

Dark Balsamic, Soy and Honey Glazed Grilled Northwest Salmon

This wasn't bad but I'd make some changes before I made it again. I didn't find it too sweet in fact I didn't find it had much flavour at all despite marinating for 3 hours. It did smell really strong but the flavour really mellowed out during cooking but the fish stayed moist. Recipe needs some tweaking. — stevemur 4/5/2011
Smoky Mexican Pork Stir Fry

Smoky Mexican Pork Stir Fry

This was delicious. We didn't eat it over the lettuce but as a main dish with potatoes. I added a half a chipotle more but it wasn't necessary. What the recipe calls for would be more than enough. The extra made it too spicy. If you like spice this is the dish for you. Even the husband highly recommends it! — tyson 3/14/2011
Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

We used peppers and onions for the veggies but did the rest of the recipe as posted. It was very salty but I think if you cut the salt down by at least half it wouldn't be that bad. Otherwise I'd just say it was ok and I don't know if I'd make it again. — smobrien 3/14/2011
Roasted Broccoli and Sweet Onion

Roasted Broccoli and Sweet Onion

It was ok. — weckle 3/14/2011
Gourmet Glazed Meatballs

Gourmet Glazed Meatballs

I used all ready made turkey meatballs and just used this recipe for the sauce. It was pretty good and very easy. I found the allspice to be slightly overpowering but I'd make it again. Next time I think I will add some red pepper flakes or something to add some spice. — Mikail 3/7/2011
Hunan Spicy Chicken

Hunan Spicy Chicken

While this wasn't the worst dish I don't think I'd make it again without some major changes which would really mean a different recipe. I didn't find there was much sauce to the dish at all after cooking. I also didn't find it that spicy for my taste. This had good flavour but just wasn't what I was looking for. — stephanie 3/7/2011
Sesame Pork Tenderloin

Sesame Pork Tenderloin

This was a very easy recipe and had pretty good flavour. I marinated the pork for half a day and boiled the marinade after for basting and kept some for sauce after the pork was cooked. We did it on the BBQ and it turned out great. We didn't double the sauce and I found it was enough but if you like it saucy you might want to double the sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. — swibirun 3/3/2011
Biscuits

Biscuits

Very easy and quick recipe. Found them a little bland but with chili they were yummy. I rolled out the dough and cut into 8 rectangles which I then folded over to get a layer effect. That way when they were cooked they were easy to pull apart to add butter. Next time I'll try adding cheese or something savory for abit of extra flavour. — Marlee 10/26/2010
Blueberry Compote

Blueberry Compote

I made this to go over baked french toast and everyone really liked it. It was very easy to make and I will definitely make this again. 5/24/2010
Chicken Breasts In Sun-dried Tomato Cream

Chicken Breasts In Sun-dried Tomato Cream

I doubled this recipe and made it as a pasta. I found it pretty bland. The only flavour came from the sun-dried tomatoes. This wasn't a bad recipe but it could use some tweaking for more flavour. — khandih 5/24/2010
Skewered Honey-Balsamic Chicken

Skewered Honey-Balsamic Chicken

I found this recipe to be too salty. I tried the extra honey on top as well and it made them abit more edible. I made it for a party and everyone else seemed to like them but for me personally I wouldn't try this recipe again. — ellie36 2/8/2010
