What's for dinner?
Hi there.   I'm 64 years old, and live in the Northern Shenandoah Valley of VA where I grew up in the Massanutten Mountains. Still living within sight of those beautiful mountains. When I was a senior in high school back in 1963 I was selected Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for my school.  I am a 4-H All Star, and learned lots about cooking and baking in that organization. My mother was one of the leaders, and she was a wonderful cook. She cooked on the railroad along with my dad following  the great depression.

I'm a retired nurse, and still married to my hubby of 44 years.  We have two grown sons, and a daughter-in-law.  Other son has a steady girlfriend, and these four are the joys of our lives along with our little Boston Terrier, Ellie Rose, and our grandpup, Yellow Lab, Jasmine.

I'm diabetic now, but still enjoy cooking.....and eating.  Always trying to cook healthier, and to cut back on the fats and carbs.

My other hobbies include gardening, nature crafts, quilting, painting rocks, gourds and most anything else, photography ,  reading, writing, needle felting,  and  keeping the homefires burning.

I'm owner of a small art and collectibles business, also.

Nancy aka Shenanny

Some of my favorite foods are:

Roast Beef
Field Cress  and other Greens
Ham Pot Pie
Pork Tenderloin with fine wine
Chicken Salad
Macaroni and Cheese
Broccoli Salad
Homemade Rolls
Lemon Meringue Pie
Lemon Cookies
Lemon Crackers
Fruit Salads

Wonderful memories of the kitchen at my homeplace in the mountains. We lived on a farm,  and I remember helping my mother make ice box cookies and other delicious treats for the holidays.  We cracked our own yummy black walnuts. Made potato candy.

Wish I had the old wood-fired cooking range now.

My favorite eating occasion of recent was my great niece's wedding reception in a grand ballroom in WV a couple of weeks ago. The finest food and drinks I've experienced. Stuffed crab legs,  roast beef,  wonderful turkey with all the trimmings. The wedding cake was served in five different flavors, and ice cream in little stemed cups. So elegant.
