My husband is a chef and cooking for him is a bit difficult at times. He is one of those perfectionists in the kitchen and has a natural instinct. He can take a nibble of something and recite with good accuracy most of the ingredients.
I do most of the cooking and consider "It's ok" from him as a compliment. I love it when I get a "I really enjoyed that". I am rarely afraid to try something new My favorite foodsand am always looking for one of those "WOW" recipes.
Recipes I've Posted (all 3)
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and baking little pies from the leftover pie crust with my younger sister is one of my favorite happy memories.
My son who is now 17 has been cooking since he was about 2. He still experiments in the kitchen with no cheating by following any kind of recipe. He throws in a lil of this and a lil of that and many times I am quite amazed at the results.
My daughter, 18, loves to eat but is just to busy with her social life to bother much with cooking other than a frozen pizza. She does stop at home many nights a weekknowing there is always something good waiting for her.

Frank's Famous Sausage GravyI just made the gravy, the biscuits are still baking. I have to say that when I read 1 cup of flour I thought to myself that is wayyy to much. Sure enough it was more like a football and couldn't even stir it. I had to more than triple the milk and water (3 cups ea) and it is still tooo thick. I think about one fourth cup flour would be closer. The flavor is very good though.

Onion Soup RoastMade this last night, gravy was pretty tasty. I cooked it on the stove top since it is still very hot here and I didn't want to turn on the ac. Turned out well except I had to add extra water to soup and gravy was thin. Just had to thicken it a bit with flour. I was pleased overall.

Hummingbird CakeI made this the other day and it was OK. It tasted to me like regular old banana bread except a lil moister than usual. Frankly I was disappointed in it. It may have been because all the raves about it put my expectations way high. Or, it could be that I don't really care for bananas anyway. My husband likes bananas a LOT. But he isn't into desserts all that much. He thought it was just OK also. I probably won't make again

Cola ChickenI have come across similar recipes to this on many occasions reading cookbooks and the net and have always passed it up because it just doesn't sound right if you know what i mean. Tonight I was really tired and my husband was really hungry so I thought I'd try this because it looked easy and all the good comments. My Husband said it was OK which is good from him since he is a chef. I didn't care for it so much. it was rather tart. I probably won't make again. I may however pass it on to my 18 yo daughter who lives on her own. I think this would be a fantastic recipe for new cooks.
