I doubled the recipe added more garlic and cut sugar in half; used slightly more water? Added mushrooms and apples sliced instead of apple juice works just as well, use a hearty apple that goes tender when cooked. I used ambrosia apples. I also used one teaspoon of cornstarch rather than 1 tablesppon as that is way too much corn starch, let sauce reduce through heat process to your liking, it also gives time for the veggies and meat to mingle.
Served over brown rice I like the nuttiness..
You can consider this an aggless carbonara as it has bacon in the pasta. carbonara refers to a pasta dish with egg and bacon. So it is nammed correcly. And the dish is absolutely simple goodness, thanks for sharing!!
I substituted mozzarella with goat cheese and sauted mushrooms even after all that I still needed a pinch of salt then it was perfect.
Good base recipe but not the best in flavour. My additions kicked it up a notch!
I found this recipe great, did not need measurements as it is pretty easy to figure out if yu have had shepards pie before. I substitued vegie ground round for the meat added vegetarian worchestershire sauce and a touch of soy sauce to give it a more meaty flavor worked exceptionally well.
this is how my mom makes it with a few tips\changes, use canned or frozen small peas for sweeter tasting dish. Use whole roasted chicken leftovers like the dish intended to be don't use processed or prepared chicken as it won't taste right
