About me
I'm a 50-something single dad of a teenage daughter who is retired and has waaaay too much time on his hands. Cooking has always been a major passion. I've entered and won chili cookoff competitions. I'm seriously considering going to culinary school, (French, of course), just to refine what I have already taught myself.
Living here on the Gulf Coast of Texas, I'm an avid saltwater fisherman. After spending some years as a shrimper, I became an expert on the preparation of fresh seafood.
International travel most of my adult life has exposed me to so many cuisines from around the world, I hardly know where to start when I'm in the mood for food!
Aahh! Retirement is a wonderful thing. I can spend all the time I want to cook!
My Favorite Foods
The range of my tastes are as varied as there are minutes in the day. I do mean smoked briskets and ribs on my smoker. Shrimp is the greatest food on the earth. Bubba Gump ain't got nothing on me! German Sauerbraten or Beef Rouladin, Asian, Mexican, Caribbean...it's all stuff I love to cook and eat. Oh, how could I leave out American: Deep Fried Turkey! I'm also a sauce freak. Sweet or savory, I love making sauces. To me it is the best way to enhance anything, from vege's to main dishes to desserts.
