About Me

My name is Vicki and I am a retired school teacher.  I miss teaching and think I might teach again in a private school this fall.  We just moved to the country from a Kansas City suburb called Raymore.  I love it here.  Love to walk through the trees, listen to the turkeys, watch deer and smell the fresh air.  My hobby is cooking and I will need to watch the types of food that I fix, because my cholesterol is a bit high.  I collect lots of recipes from old cookbooks and from lots of places on the net.  This sounds like an interesting place to meet other cooks.  I love animal and have five dogs and four cats.  I used to have horses (fox trotters) and loved to go on trail rides.  All the time we owned horses we had to pay board and now we have the property and no horses.  My hubby says no more animals that we will never be able to travel with so many pets.  Love to meet and visit with people and have made several friends on the puter.  I have three beautiful granddaughters Avorey 3, and Tavia almost 9, not to leave out my  youngest arrival Olivia 1 yr.  I now have twins on the way from my son, Bryan and wife Pam.  They are due this fall and are going to be a boy and girl set.  How exciting.  They are the second most important thing in my life after my Lord.  I am a Christian, grandmother and teacher in that order.  I have four lovely children, two girls and two boys.  Well, would love to share more, but I guess I need to get started with submitting recipes. Some of my favorite foods

Well, my favorite foods are many!  I love all different types of foods.  I think, my favorite meal of the year is Thanksgiving with the moist turkey, dressing, gravy, all the salads and potato dishes, vegetables and desserts.  I love a good steak with a loaded baked potato and salad (with all the toppings).    I love good pie and I do a great job making them.  Probably apple is my favorite with whipped cream on the top.  A close second is cheesecake from the Cheese Cake Factory.  They have so many varieties.    It is just hard to find something I don't enjoy.  I have a corn recipe that is a favorite that has bacon and sour cream in it which I will post and a  jello and blueberry recipe which is also so delicious.  My best memories of great dinners was growing up at home, my family would all come to our house for Sunday dinner.  My mom made a tender rump roast/with gravy, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, sweet potatoes and some veggie (different depending on the season).  My aunt was an excellent pie maker and every Sunday she would make three or four pies.  Rhubarb,  apple, gooseberry, pecan, peach, pumpkin....so very delicious.  She taught me how to make crust and fill it with the best of every filling.  My grandmother would make different things and my favorite were her home made bread and rolls.
