About me
I was born and raised in Savannah, GA by Midwest transplants (from Chicago and Greenbay), so I have no idea what my cultural identity really is. I'm currently living on post at Ft. Drum, NY. I think I feel more at home here than in the south. I definitely prefer the weather and the lack of small talk.
Currently, I'm an Army housewife and I'm loving it. We're childfree by choice, so most of the day it's just me and the cat. I spend my time knitting, cooking, playing video games, drawing, studying Russian (I'm not that good yet, so don't send me any messages in Russian!) and running a couple of internet forums.
My husband and I lose a lot of time watching The History Channel, The Military Channel, The Science Channel, and The Food Network. We also enjoy roleplaying.
My Favorite Foods
My favorite holiday has always been Thanksgiving. My mom didn't cook very many interesting meals when I was growing up because my father and I have some weight issues, but Thanksgiving was always an exception. Not only was it great cooking some real family recipes, but I always found the kitchen to be the best place to bond with people. Even though it's just me and my husband, I cook enough for an army on Thanksgiving (and now that he's in the military, I expect we may actually be feeding an army once the single guys find out!)
I can't really say I have a favorite type of food. I enjoy (and sorely miss) Mexican food. There are no Mexican restaurants up here, so I need to find some authentic recipes to satisfy those cravings. I also love Japanese, Chinese, Italian, German...hell I love it all. Just don't expect me to eat grits or okra.
