About me

I live in Baltimore.  I am married with 3 children, ages 3 months, 9 years and 10 years old.  I love to cook.  I like to try new recipes.  I enjoy music, photography and spending time with my family.  We go to church and love family outings.  I am a child care teacher.  I work with children who live in a treatment facility.  It is very challenging and rewarding.

I like to meet new friends.  Although, I have lived here all my life, I have recently made some changes in my life (marriage) that have caused me to make some changes in other areas of my life, including some friendships.

My favorite pasttime is reading  mystery novels and watching horror movies with or without my family.

My Favorite Foods

Some of my favorite  foods are mostly made of pork.  I love BBQ pork ribs, country ribs and pork chops I also love minced BBQ.  I tried to make it once but it did not turn out well at all.  I do not however enjoy pig feet or hog maws or chitterlings.  The dishes I enjoy cooking most is cakes, cookies and pies from scratch if I have time.  I enjoy trying new desserts also.  Let's not forget my very favorite desert--banana pudding.

A few dishes I try to duplicate from my mom are:  Spanish pork chops out of a Betty Crocker book from the 1960's I guess. I do not remember how to make the Spanish rice.  Also there is a recipe that I made with a friend one Thanksgiving.  There was sauerkraut, potatoes (I think) and pork chops all in one pot--a German dish I believe.   I made an African stew with fufu & plantain it was really good.

My 9 year old loves to cook now and last Thanksgiving she and I made our first sweet potatoes pie together.  I want to teach her to make a butternut squash pie like her fathers mom made. I had an aunt who made the most fabulous coconut pineapple cake from scratch and an orange cake.
