My Favorite Foods
Most of the food I like to prepare and eat is traditional fare. To me, food has many memories associated with it. Some of the Old South dishes my grandmother would prepare were so classic.
I also like New Orleans cooking, creole and Cajun cooking, camp cooking, and of course, plain old southern country cooking. I am not a big dessert cook or a pastry baker, although I am preparing more of this as I get older.
Smoking, grilling and barbecuing are big favorites of mine. It's hard to beat a charcoaled ribeye, baked potato, sauteed mushrooms and a green salad! I bet we have that meal once a week. During the summer at the lake house, the grill never cools down. There is always smoke coming from it! Also, I enjoy frying. Anything fried! There is something about that crust forming on the outside of the meat or vegetable that I like!
During this busy time of my life I find I don't have the time to cook the elaborate dishes I used to. So now I am experimenting with easier, faster and lighter dishes. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't take the time to prepare Lobster Newberg!
