About me

I grew up all over, being the daughter of a Naval officer. We lived in Hawaii for 7 years, Alaska for 5 years and many other places. My dad finally retired and moved us to settle in a little town in Arkansas, where I spent most of my life.

I loved helping my Italian mom cook, but grew very weary of pasta all the time. I dislike it to this day and will only add noodles or pasta to a dish if I think it enhances it, which it sometimes does. When I was about 15, I asked for a cookbook and received a 1969 hard bound Betty Crocker Cookbook as a gift. I loved that book and still have it to this day. I also have the 1991 40th Annversary edition. I learned to cook many different things from these books. I changed and experimented with the recipes and created some of my own.

I have since married and moved away from Arkansas. I live in Seattle now with my husband and 16 year old son. I still cook all the time and enjoy trying new recipes out on my "guinea pigs". They love almost everything I put in front of them and my husband has even started cooking for us regularly too! He does a mean Sunday morning breakfast!

I look forward to looking through all the wonderful recipes here and trying some new things. I'll add more of my favorites as I have time. I'll even add some that I created in Home Ec. class, so many years ago.

My Favorite Foods

I love good ole meat and potatoes type meals. I love soups and stews. Like many people, sweets are my weakness. I don't eat them very often, but when I do, it's usually something I made rather than bought.

I lilke your Stoby's cheese dip picture and i cant wait to make your Skillet beef dish.

Then just look through each one and start eliminating the pictures one by one, it will come down to the last two..then you just sit back and see which one looks the best. I hope you win too

ooops...I mean I just WON...not "one"...silly me

Welcome Steffie, I just one photo of the month this month, shock of all shockers, this is what I do, i take at least 10 pictures. All different Angles, I walk around the food and take pics behind it, I will change the location so the lighting is different, I will tilt my camera at a slight angle and only capture half of the dish. Feel free to look at some of my recipe pics...I never in a million years thought that I would win. HAPPY SNAPPING!
