About Me I'm 63, and retired last year after 38 years of service to the federal government, some military, some civilian. I was born and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, in the days when seasoning with bacon grease, fried okra and catfish, biscuits, peach cobbler with sweet milk, and apricot and pineapple fried pies were all considered healthy. My grandmother and mother were magicians in the kitchen. Now that I have some time do enjoy cooking once again, I enjoy looking for and trying recipes that might offer the flavors I remember - and miss! - from my childhood, but that are miraculously heart-healthy and calorie-wise at the same time. That's my trusty sidekick Mackenzie (AKA Big Mac and Macaroon) in the picture with me. He's a big help in the kitchen - always ready to take a taste test. We both have our antlers on, getting ready for a Christmas party. Some of my favorite foods My favorite food is anything Tex-Mex.
