About me
Used to cook LOTS when the kids were young, then entertained LOTS until I retired to Florida. Had spent many years boating. Remarried - a boater in 1997 and took off for a few years; first on a sailboat, then traded that for a trawler. My cooking became much narrower - lots of seafood and salads. We settled in Burlington VT on Lake Champlain, but still lived on the trawler. LOTS of barbeques at the marina. Finally, admitted we were too old for boats. Bought a motorhome and traveled for a year and a half. LOTS of local cooking - New Mexico, Louisiana, gulf coast, atlantic coast. Not much galley space so wasn't too adventurous. Now settled in New Hampshire in an apartment - still not the galley space I'd like! Finally bought a deep fat fryer. Now I can make all the goodies: doughnuts, fried eggplant, sweet potato sticks, fish cakes, etc.
My Favorite Foods
anything with corn. I remember the days when we had huge family dinners - Christmas and Thanksgiving. My family was very talkative so my mother, after trying to get a word in edgewise, would bang on the table and say, "My turn! My turn!" They'd let her get a sentence in then. We don't have the big dinners any more (too spread out) but when we do talk on the phone, I do the same as my mother, "My turn."
