About Me

Born into a big family, the eldest of 7 children. I learned to cook at an early age. Most of my meals were of large size. To me and the rest of the family Mom was the best cook around. I've been cooking and experimenting most of my life in the kitchen. Now I cook for about 120 people everyday. I'm the head cook and assistant dietary mgr in a top nursing home. Our kitchen has won many awards, our health scores have been above 100 over the last two years. I've been there for two years now.

I have other hobbies but not practicing as of late. Oil painting, writing, quilting. I do have a dream of having a large country kitchen with all the needs a top chef would need. I have so many things in mind that I want to do, but of course money is limited but of course I will keep on dreaming!!

I do have 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren and one man in my life...Nicholas my Lhasa Ahpso. All  are my official taste testers~!!

Some of my favorite foods

I love vegetables I once lost 82 lbs on just raw or steamed veggies, a thin sandwich consisting of the wafer thin sandwich meat...fat free of course. Loads of lettuce and tomato. For a snack it was air popped popcorn. To drink it was lots of water and herb tea. I took my daily vitamins, mainly the B 100 Complex, B 12 and B 6. I exercised twice once in the morning and once at night. Now 20 yrs later, I want to do it again..
I like my meatloaf. Years ago I dreaded making meat loaf until started working at the nursing home. My boss was fantastic and understanding. Working in the work kitchen I've learned so much. Always trying to perfect even your best, you still learn. I have gotten plenty of raves over my cooking, I try to bring back the "good old down home cooking" taste and tradition. So much has been lost in todays society and updated surprises in our food. I've seen the way the children are fed in schools. I could have cried. They still come home hungry. I've actually had a least 14 kids in my kitchen looking for a good meal, all at one time. I never turned any of them away. God guided, and I fed the children. My whole life has been surrounded by food in one way or another. My brother Jack is a gourmet cook and loves to show off. He is famous for his Rockys Ribs. He taught me a lot as well. Truly I have been very blessed.
