Hi Kim, As for the cola chicken, no particular reason to use diet. I'm with you and don't drink diet sodas at all because I hate them, but in the cola chicken, it's so sweet from the ketchup I guess, that the sugar isn't needed. I've never tried it with regular, so don't know how it would come out. :) Anne
