About me
When I was younger my grandmother taught me how to cook (and sew). I also found that I had a sweet tooth like hers and found that we both enjoyed making "sweet" dishes.
During High School I planned that after graduation, I would either go to culinary school (possibly the Art Institute) to be a Pastry Chef or major in Chemistry. (I decided on Chemistry, since I was having back problems at the time).
During my first two years of College I started my own business, MSProductions, which provides video production services. (Of course after my first semester of the Chem. major, I changed it to Film & Digital Media), I continued to enjoy cooking all the time. (Especially candy, cakes and of the sorts)
Since the fall of 2006 I have transferred to Baylor University in Waco, TX. The first semester I basically took over the kitchen and started a weekly dinner in which I would cook for up to 10 people and I would make a 3 course meal (for $7.50/person). This occurred every Sunday in our dorm. During the summer I usually cook for my family and I everyday. (Healthy courses of course) Cooking is one of my therapies (the other is doing magic tricks). So I cannot go very long without cooking.
On September 1, 2006 my grandmother was taken from us, the one that taught me so much about cooking. I had on numerous occasions tried to get recipes from her, but would get distracted with other things. Since she is gone, I have tried to collect as many recipes as I can find in her house. She was quite organized with her recipes. She had many years ago written out meal plans for the week as well as the recipes, in long hand.
I told my family that I would put together a book of all her recipes, in order for us all to have the recipes. She had some amazing recipes. I am sure you can relate...Grandma's cooking is always the best. So in this technical age I have bought BigOven software in hopes of being able to better organize the recipes and track them as I make them.
I hope (and I believe my grandmother would as well) that cooking with her recipes will bring your family closer together whether they are your relatives or close friends.
In the Summer of 2008, I lived in Mendoza, Argentina for 3 months, I went to study Spanish, and learned some awesome cuisine. Argentina is an amazing country with amazing people and culture. My grandmother's recipes that I have been compiling into a book has been put aside for the time being, so that I can finish up my book about Argentina, which will include those recipes that I learned.
