About me

hi, i'm a new member and i love to cook.  i am a retired RN  married to childhood sweetheart and have 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. also have 3 grandchildren.  an army brat, lost my beloved daddy in 2003.  he was WWII and korean veteran.  my hero.  then recently lost my beloved mom.  she was THE best cook i've known.  southern-style cook.  i love to garden and grow alot of our own veggies.  i can and freeze whatever i can.  learned to garden from mom and dad.  daddy would have the most beautiful and bountiful gardens around.  usually grew enough to give to any and everybody.  (he was ##6 of 12 children whose daddy was farmer by trade and his daddy before him and so on.

my husband and i love to travel when we can.  very limited in the spring and summer due to the gardening.  but once the last of it comes in, we're usually looking for someplace to go and relax.

we love movies. (good movies) and love to watch the cooking channel.  have a few great recipes that i created in my own head and love to share with the family and friends.  i usually try a new recipe first the way it is written, then after that, i put my own variations, if there are changes i want to make.  some of them are good just the way they are.  i love gourmet cooking and southern cooking and especially baking breads, pies, cookies and cakes.  also love to grill veggies and fruits, esp in summer when they're fresh.  and i do love to get new recipes.

look forward to trying new recipes at big oven web site.

My Favorite Foods

i really love just about any food.  pastas, breads and veggies are my faves though.  foods with cheeses are great, esp like basil and tomato bruschetta with goat cheese and fresh grated parmesan. french and italian foods are some of my favorites too.
