About me
I'm currently a student at UT-Austin in Philosophy. Once I graduate in Fall '09, I plan to attend culinary school at the Texas Culinary Academy. I don't know where that will take me or even how far I will get, but I love to cook, but even more, I love to bake. There is no greater feeling than making others happy with something you've made especially for them. I would have to say my boyf Mike is my main guinea pig, since I'm always testing out new recipes on him. The other day I made a great Stuffed French Toast with cream cheese, blueberries, and white chocolate and he told me "Who needs IHOP when I have you." That's what baking is all about for me, making others happy. Also, we're trying to eat a bit healthier and drop some unwanted pounds, so I'm scoping out the place for low calorie dishes and hope to put some up one day. Wish me luck!
My Favorite Foods
Anything with cheese or chocolate...or maybe both! I love avocado, fresh spinach, feta cheese, zucchini, turkey, and I love love love using almond extract over vanilla! I know these are ingredients but the combinations are limitless!!! The foods I don't like...mushrooms!!! I've tried and I've tried, but I've never met one I liked! Also, I've cut out red meats and pork, substituting ground turkey for ground beef, turkey bacon for pork bacon, and turkey/chicken franks for hot dogs. Not everyone's thing but I personally think they taste better and I love that they are so much lower in calories! I wish I could become a vegetarian, but I love poultry too much :( I've started limiting my meat intake (but not my protein intake) and usually end up eating vegetarian meals probably 6 out of the 7 nights; they're just moe appeling to me. I'm always looking for new dishes to try.
