About Me
Live Pacific NW, 4 seasons. Live at the lake on weekends w/ lots of company of all ages. I garden flowers and vegetables.
I am a teacher and always teach students how to cook, shop, and be creative in the kitchen. If it doesn't taste great, why bother. I am Irish and have learned Irish cooking and very old recipes that are from Ireland, not Irish/American. I have taught Irish cooking classes. So fun!!
I have learned how to cook with limited supplies at the lake and now use some of the recipes and techniques year round everywhere.
I love Southern style comfort food and I agree with Paula Deen, butter rocks!
I have Irish Setters and love to spend time with them and my family. I have no children, so my family gets a lot of attention. My spouse works hard all day and really appreciates a home cooked meal. He doen't know how to cook, so it is easy to shine in his eyes. I love to try new things and watch food shows to learn how to do different types of cooking. I always fall back on comfort and taste.
This is a fun and so far a very "tasty" site. Slainte'
Some of my favorite foods
I love to make soup. My vegetable beef soup is loved by many, so I always make a huge pot and send some to neighbors, co-workers, in-laws and of course lunch for a couple days. I usually make white bread when I cook soup and it is often at the lake. My perfect cool weather day is to make great soup, delicious bread baking and cook a apple pie or rhubarb crisp. In the summer, I make lots of different salads and try to make marinated or brined meat for grilling. I was fortunate to learn homestyle Italian cooking from first generation Italian in-laws who took me under their wing. I love to make the big meal with the stuffed mushrooms, braciole, sausage and meatballs, fried zuchinni and eggplant, fresh french bread and a killer salad. These meals can take hours and hours to cook and I once had a "girlfriend only" dinner at the lake. No one had tasted my Italian food before and many were saying they didn't eat this, or that, but by the end of the meal, the wine had been drunk, all the food had been savored, Italian music played softly on the stereo, and everyone was ooooing over the great meal. Everyone wanted to learn how to cook the recipes and some of my friends said they couldn't wait to try and make this dinner for their family. Years later, my girlfriends still talk about that special dinner.
