About Me
I grew up eating all kinds of cuisines, thanks to my mother, who is a wonderful cook! My father grew up on the border of Arizona and Mexico, so we ate a lot of Mexican food. There really isn't much I don't like when it comes to food (much to my waistline's dismay!) In high school I was a vegetarian for a while, but I had to change my diet greatly when I went into the army to be a broadcast journalist. I ended up in Korea, where I fell in love with the food (and also managed to get married and have a baby!) When I first got married I could barely boil water, but after 16 years, I've got it down pretty well. I love homemade food and have three growing boys (four, if you count the hubby!) who have no complaints. For a while I ran an online magazine and community called Frugal Moms, sharing recipes and ideas with lots of frugal, very clever women (most of whom were fantastic cooks). These days I'm happy to just run my household and cook great food. Two of my kids are teens, so I'm cooking constantly! I also enjoy Martha Stewart's Every Day Food Magazine. The recipes are healthy, easy, delicious, and surprisingly inexpensive.
Some of my favorite foods
Mexican and Asian foods, especially salsa, guacamole, enchiladas, Kung Pao chicken, Bulgogi, and lots of stir fries. I finally got a KitchenAid mixer and am really enjoying it. I love to make soups in the winter, and also collect gift mix recipes.
