About me

Over half of a century young!  Been kitchen boss for over 30 years!

Just call me an "Egg Head"!  I'm a BGE fan for sure!

I have two "Big Green Egg" grills with the accessories, and a large gas grill with rotisserie, inferred, and a side burner.  I've had the large, heavy, southwestern style smoke house with separate fire box, Weber grills, etc...  The BGEs are my favorite. 

I have tried many different hard wood lump charcoals, and found that I prefer the BGE brand, only because it is consistent in size and quality.  It is larger pieces than the others, and seems to burn wonderfully.

I also enjoy Dutch Oven cooking, both in the house and outside.  My in-house D.O. is a Blue, 6.5 quart Lodge.  My outside set is a 5 piece, 4 of which are nested, Lodge ovens with Legs, Lids, handles, etc... and I use a D.O. Table with wind screen.

Most of my cooking is in the kitchen though.  I really enjoy creating new recipies, making old favorites, and trying other peoples recipies.  We've got most of the toys for the kitchen, and wish I had more time to use them all. 

My favorite chilis come from Hatch New Mexico.  We have been to that festival a couple of times, and cannot hardly wait to go again!  There are a couple other apple festivals that happen the same weekend, around the same area, which we visit too.

What I like to eat changes with my mood.  One day I will be craving fish and the next, smoked ribs followed by vegetarian days.  It's all good, just not enough time to do it all.

I also get cravings for old-world style food, which I must give into, from time-to-time.
