I am retired and enjoying every minute of it! My hobbies cover photography and 3D Art using Bryce and creating screen savers, jigsaw puzzles and desktop wallpaper and of course cooking and gardening. I've been cooking for most of my life and wanted to be a Chef earlier in life; I was in a Chef training program with the NY Hilton in the early 1960's until I discovered I absolutely hated cooking in a commercial environment. I love cooking for friends and family.

I discovered BigOven software while searching Google for a shopping list program and have found yet another way to squeeze time into an already overwhelming schedule. Since I cook and shop for my wife and I, this program is proving to be a tremendous time saver and I consider myself very fortunate to have found it and while I didn't anticipate being involved in a cooking community, I look forward to sharing ideas & recipes with new friends.

I enjoy preparing and creating flavorful foods; I especially love sauces and gravies and Asian stir fry and Soups of every description. I will prepare a recipe exactly the way it describes the first time and make changes after that if needed.

I've never met a dessert I didn't like! I love pecan pie and most fruit pies and adore all cakes. I am beginning to experiment with making candy whenever I have a chance.
