I made this for my step daughters birthday party last year and now is requested at family get togethers. For Christmas I even made homemade buns. This is by far the best shredded pork recipe I have tried. Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow, this was fantastic! I used someone's suggestion of apple cider vinegar mixed with brown sugar to start the cooking off with. Once the meat was shredded, I emptied all the juice into a bowl. Put the shredded pork back into the cooker, mixed in sweet baby rays BBQ sauce and periodically added some of the juice as needed. Of all the recipes I've made on this site, this one got devoured the quickest!
Turned out very greasy and rather bland. You need to find a very flavorful barbecue sauce to pair with. We did three separate crock pots, one with Sweet Baby Rays Original, one with Sticky Fingers Memphis Original, the last with Mrs. Griffins Original which is a mustard base. I I'd not add beef broth and glad I didn't, we would have been eating with spoon rather than on sandwich. Over all not bad the meat just lacks flavor of it's own. I would suggest marinating over night with some seasonings with a bit more kick to them.
This recipe was wonderful! I also didn't add broth because everyone one skipped it! I froze 1/3 of shredded pork with no BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's Original was GREAT) and added about 1 cup of sauce to the 2/3 of pork. It came out a little greasy, but I guess that's to be expected.
Excellent! I did not add the broth as suggested in other reviews but I did add a 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar (mixed prior) on top of pork before starting up crock pot. Party loved it!
I'm from the UK never had this before. IT was a hit... gorgeous flavour. Didn't need the broth because of all the prok juices. In fact it was a bit too runny to make a sandwich so next time I might even remove some of the pork juices next time if I want to make sandwiches. The pork just fell apart when I tried taking it out of the slow cooker to pull it apart woth forks.... AMAZING!!!!!!
Easy Peasey! I'm the worlds most useless cook but this is fantastic. Just added a little of the beef stock and an onion to crockpot whilst cooking pork. Didn't need to add
anymore. Used JD BBQ sauce. Lovely!!!
Just what I was looking for in pulled pork. DID NOT add the beef broth. Glad I didn't. I would Running a 102 fever.would have been like soup. I even poured off some if the natural juices in the croc pot from cooking the roast. I used sweet pbaby rays sauce
Hi just wanted to check before I give this a go. . . Is this ok going in the slow cooker dry at the beginning? Only ever made sauces in mine as was under the impression you have to have liquid in there?
