This was amazing! My husband loved it. As others said, I didn't know what to do with the cheese, so I mixed some in with the stuffing and added some on top the last 20 min. Also next time I would half the recipe for the stuffing, I also made a meatloaf with the remainder.
My mom doesn't have Internet access but she made this tonight and was over the moon. She's been looking for a stuffed cabbage recipe for so long. She too was nervous about cooking some of the cabbage in the filling. We both never heard of it. But this is a keeper for both of us!!!!! THANK YOU!
Not sure where my first review was but these were OUTSTANDING! They reminded me of the ones my grandmother use to make in the old timey pressure cooker. LOVE the touch of honey in the sauce. Gave it just a lil but of sweetness that I remember from my grandmothers. I would suggest to only cook the cabbage 5 min so it doesn't fall apart.
This was a great recipe, but I found the instructions didn't "flow" well. I did sort of go through them in a linear way, which I'm used to. I found about halfway through that I should have cooked some rice ahead of time. This slowed down the process. I also never figured out what to do with the cheese so I just left it out of the recipe, although I could have combined it with the meat or sprinkled it on top. I'm not afraid to modify. The instruction issue was my fault as I didn't read through the recipe thoroughly before starting it. Just know that you need to do that. It's a great dish, and I'll make it again!
Delicious! Whole family loved it and gobbled it up! I made double and forgot to add the cheese but I was planning on mixing the cheese into the meat mixture. I used some Italian seasoning in the meat mixture and Italian seasoning bread crumbs.
