First time I've ever made meatballs and they were a hit! I think I made them a bit too big, but I followed another user's advice to bake them in the oven and they turned out great! I used a sundried tomato, garlic and basil sauce with them.
They came out ok the first time, but I made the meatballs about 2" in diameter. After cooking the meatballs (for maybe 10 minutes) in the frying pan I cut one open to take a look and the center was still uncooked. I ended up putting them in the oven for 10-15 minutes after that. I don't think cooking in the sauce would have been enough to cook my meatballs.
I also think that they need more cheese. Maybe twice as much.
I used Italian seasonings instead of basil and doubled the recipe by adding Italian sausage along with the ground beef. These were absolutely delicious! I usually don't like meatballs because they are dry. Not these! Very moist!
Easy to make, unbelievably tasty, make sure the size of meatballs is small or you're in danger of making burgers! Served with cheese and basil for decor it looks like a top notch dish! Will deff make it again!
