Preheat oven to 180o c, grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan.
Combine in a bowl the sugar, flour, salt, baking powder, soda, cloves and cinnamon.
Beat in butter, eggs, milk and vanilla. Then add chopped apples.
Pour into prepared pan and cover with topping.
Bake in oven for 35-40 minutes.
Add all ingredients to a bowl and crumble together, press on top of mixture.
