Peel and cut apples into thin slides. Place all ingredients in a slow cooker and stir. Cook and cover on low overnight (8-10 hours). Remove cover, stir and taste.
Add more spices or sugar if desired. Continue cooking for a few more hours, uncovered, until some of the liquid has gone and the butter has cooked down a bit. Pour into jars and refrigerate or can.
Serve over hot biscuits, toast or scones
Mine was a little thinner than I would make again. Maybe doesn't need as much apple juice?
