Heat oven to 400 degrees. In a medium bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form. Stir in apple and ginger.
Beat egg, cream, and lemon peel. Add to dry ingredients. Stir just until moistened.
Knead on floured surface 5-6 times. Shape into 8" round (about 1" thick). Cut into 8 wedges.
Bake 15-20 mintutes.
Glaze
Combine powdered sugar and lemon juice. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over warm scones.
