I had a dear friend give me this recipe and I absolutely love it. It is an extremely moist cake, no perfect "cuts" with this one, but one that will have you licking the knife and edges of the pan with each piece cut for your guest. I make the "lower" in sugar version and my husband, kids and grandbabies love it. Thanks for sharing, Teresa!!!!
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with Pam.
Combine cake mix, apple pie spice and milk in mixing bowl. Mix well by hand. Stir in apple. Spread evenly in sprayed pan.
Combine brown sugar & hot water, in a small bowl, mix well and pour evenly over cake batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Spoon warm dessert in dishes and top with Cool Whip. Yummy!!!!
This cake can be eaten warm or cold. Its good either way. You can also substitute ice cream for the cool whip.
