Heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a tube or bunt pan. Mix butter, applesauce, chocolate, and sugar in mixing bowl and beat 5 minutes at high speed. Mix flour, soda, and spices and sift together. Add to sugar mixture gradually, mixing well after each addition. Fold in nut and fruit mixture/ Pour into prepared pan and bake 1 1/2 hours. Test for doneness with toothpick.
