Preheat oven to 350F
Fill baking dish 3/4 with sliced apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon, 2 tbl flour and 2/3 cup sugar.
Mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg and 1 tsp salt in bowl. Put on top of apples. Melt 1 stick of butter and sprinkle on top. Bake 30 minutes.
Icing: Cream shortening and sugar. Cook flour and milk over medium heat until very thick. Cool Add to shortening/sugar mixture. Add vanilla and a pinch of salt.
