Mom's yam casserole
Boil and peel yams. Put into a buttered casserole, a layer of yams, a layer of apples. Cover with sauce and bake in 350 degree oven for one hour. (Can be cooked in microwave for 20 minutes)
For Sauce: Mix sugar, salt, and cornstarch. Add 2 c. boiling water a little at a time and cook until thickened. Add 1/4 pound of butter or margarine and pour over yams.
