Mash the roasted garlic into a paste. Whisk the garlic paste into the melted butter.
Spread the asparagus on a baking sheet. Brush half of the roasted garlic butter onto the spears and season with salt and pepper. Roast until crisp-tender, 15-18 min.
While they're still hot, brush with the remaining roasted garlic butter and top with the lemon zest.
