Old family recipe from my great-great aunt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In large bowl combine butter and sugar. Add flour, baking powder, egg, and milk. In seperate small cup combine baking soda and vanilla, then add to large bowl and mix thoroughly.
Bake for 22 minutes or until golden brown.
Yields 1 layer.
