Firm fresh apples baked with topping
preheat oven 400. Starting at outermost edges, cut most of way thru each apple half at 1/8th " intervals. Place apple halves cut sides down in an 8" square glass or baking dish costed with cooking spray. Mix together 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp butter, & 1/2 tsp cinnamon; brush mix over apple. Cover pan with foil; bake 400 for 20 min. Remove foil; bake 400 for 10 min or til apples tender. Combine remaining sugar,butter, cinnamon with the oats, flour & salt. Carefully fan open the Apple halves. Spoon oat mix evenly over apples. Bake 400 for 10 min. Turn broiler to hi & broil apples 2 min. Serve with ice cream.
