Remove ham from refrigerator and bring to room temp ( about 30 mins)
Pre heat oven to 325 degrees F. Trim off any skin. Use a paring knife to score through the far in a diagonal crosshatch pattern without cutting into the meat. Insert cloves into the ham ( if using) placing them at the intersections of the cuts
Put the ham flat side down on a rack ina roasting pan. Transfer to the oven and roast until ham registers 130F at the thickest part ( about 15 mins per pound)
Increase the temp to 435 degrees F. Pour half of the glaze over the ham and brush to coat. If the water in the bottom of the pan had evaporated add more. Return ham to the oven and roast, basting every 10 mins with remaining glaze until glossy and well browned ( about 45 mins)
