Homemade Biscuits for breakfast or dinner.
Preheat oven to 400. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together. Add shortening. Use a pastry blender or two forks to cut in shortening until mixture looks like coarse cornmeal. Make a well in the center of the mixture and add milk all at one time. Use a fork to stir quickly no more than 10 times or until dough cleans sides of bowl. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth. Knead gently and quickly no more than 10 times. Pat out the dough with hands or roll with a cloth-covered rolling pin until dough is 1/2 inch think. Cut with 2 inch biscuit cutter dipped in a little flour. Place cut biscuits 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until done.
