Cream shortening with mixer. Add sugar and eggs and beat. In separate bowl, put soda into flour and stir. Add flour to mixture gradually and mix. Add bananas and nuts. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake for 50 minutes at 350. Check middle with toothpick. Make sure not dry on outside.
