There are a few members of our family that are on a gluten free diet. For many years, they were unable to enjoy pne of the most important side dishes of the Holiday Season. This was my creation, and has been in the family for many years now. It is always a hit. I hope you enjoy.
Make the bread according to the instructions found on the package. Let the
bread stand in a cool, dry place for a day or two.
A half loaf will make approximately 4 cups of cubes.
Cut the bread into 1/2 inch cubes. Place the cubes on a baking sheet and
dry in a pre-heated 325 degree oven for 20 minutes. Remove and let stand.
Melt the butter in a saute pan. Add the onion and celery and cook until
soft. Add the broth and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the
bread cubes, parsley, thyme, and sage. Combine throughly. Stuffing should
be moist but not mushy.
Gluten free chicken broth is sometimes hard to find. The boxed broth is what we have found to be the best bet for Gluten Free. As always, please remember to ready the ingredents, just to make sure.
