Preheat oven 180c - grease & line 20cm round tin
Beat butter n sugar in small bowl with electric beaters until light n creamy.
Add egg n vanilla essence, beat for 1 min on high speed.
Add sifted ingredients and cream to bowl n beat for 1 minute or till combined then beat on high 2 minutes.
Smooth into tin, bake for 55 min, test, turn out on rack.
Ice as desired.
