Cook sausage in cider, about 10 minutes in a covered pan at a simmer or low boil.
Add remaining ingredients, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes - more or less.
Serve in plates or bowls with rye bread and mustard.
This is equally good, or even better, with spareribs.
