Cut steak into 1/4 inch thick strips. Combine onion and teriyaki sauce in a small bowl. Add beef strips and stir to coat.
Prepare grill for direct cooking by cleaning well and rubbing grates with a paper towel coated with olive oil.
Alternately thread beef strips, weaving back and forth, pineapple and water chestnuts onto skewers.
Place kabobs on grill over medium heat. Grill 4 minutes, turning once, or until meat is cooked through. Serve immediately.
Serve with cooked rice and stir-fried broccoli and mushrooms
