These rolls are just like the ones served at the Covington Beef House.
Dissolve sugar, salt and lard in boiling water. Add cold water. Beat egg and add it to yeast dissolved in lukewarm water. Start mixing process and add flour slowly until dough pulls from sides of bowl. Knead for 15 min. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours. Punch down. Pinch into small dough balls and place into oiled muffin tin. (This can be stored in a refrigerator for up to a week before forming rolls) Let dough balls rise for at least 1 hour. Bake rolls 20-25 mins at 325 degrees. Makes 2 dozen.
