Originally a recipe for Beef Pot Pie in Cook's Country, it makes a delicious stew.
Season beef with salt and pepper.
Sear 1/2 of beef in vegetable oil, high heat, about 7 mins. Remove from pan and put back with raw beef.
Add more veg. oil on medium heat. Saute mushrooms, onion, carrots for 5 min. Add garlic & tomato paste, stir 30 seconds.
Add wine, reduce. Add flour and stir about 1 minutes to cook flour.
Add worchestershire, soy and beef broth. Return beef to pot. Stir and bring to simmer.
Cook at 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes.
Add corn and thyme. Stir and serve.
