Heat oven to 350
Grease bottom only of 1-2 large loaf pans (I prefer 4 small ones)
Mix butter & sugar. Add eggs, bananas, buttermilk & vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in flour, baking soda, & salt until moistened. Pour batter into pans.
Bake: 1 loaf = 85 min, 2 loafs = 60 min... My 4 loaves took about 50 min.
Remove from pans to cooling rack. Cool before slicing (1 hour, but that seems excessive!)
