Brown the beef with the onions; drain. Place in slow cooker.
Puree the stewed tomatoes and diced tomatoes to desired consistency. (Trust me, this gives a much nicer flavor and texture than plain tomato sauce!) Add to slow cooker.
Put all remaining ingredients in slow cooker. (Put bay leaves in a tea leaf ball for easy removal if desired.)
Cook on low for 7-8 hours or until heated through. Discard bay leaves. Serve over separately-cooked noodles.
