Add sugar, salt, and 1/2 cup shortening.
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
Add to the milk then beaten egg.
Add 3cup flour and mix until smooth (I did the dough in my mixer)
Work in remaining flour and mix until smooth.
Work in remaining flour to make easily handled dough knead well.
Let rise until doubled in size.
Brown hamburger with a little salt and the onion.
Cook cabbage in boiling water with salt and pepper mix with hamburger.
Work dough down twice then roll into long strips to make into squares.
Put in filling then pinch them closed.
Put in pan and let rise for 20 min.
Bake at 350 until brown.
