Shortcakes made from a biscuit dough
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together. Cut in shortening until mxiture resembles coarse corn meal. Add beaten egg and milk.
Roll dough until one half inch thick. Cut in 2-3" rounds. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 450 for 12-15 minutes. Split the hot rounds and butter.
