If you like green chilis (taste, not hot) then this is a great breakfast casserole for you! I have not tried putting it together the night before, refrigerating and then cooking in the morning yet but will. If you try it, let me know how it works- that would be a big plus!
I will be trying this with good local smoked sausage cut up in cubes as well!
Preheat oven 350°. Lightly coat bottom of 9x13 dish with cooking spray.
Brown sausage with onions and green chiles. Drain grease.
Cut biscuits in fourths. Layer them in bottom of the dish. There will be a lot, so don't worry. Just place all in the pan.
Scatter sausage mixture over top of biscuit pieces.
Sprinkle all of the cheese on top of the sausage.
Blend the eggs and cream with wire whisk. Pour over top of ingredients in pan, evenly.
Prepare gravy on stove according to package directions. Pour evenly over the egg mixture.
Bake for 45-55 minutes. At the 45 minute mark, check to make sure the center is not jiggly. When it all settles, the eggs should be fully cooked. It may appear wet due to the gravy. Don't let this alarm you. It is so fantastic!
Serves: 6-8 depending on portion sizes
I really like to use the precooked sausage crumbles or patties cut up.
