These are a favourite in my household and with my co-workers. They are very good still quite warm with a scoop of fernch vanilla ice cream on top or the next day with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream in between 2 cookies like an ice cream sandwich. Delicious!!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, shortening and vanilla extract. Beat in mixer until smooth. Then add slightly beaten eggs and mix until combined.
In a large bowl; combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Add to mixer alternately with milk. Beat until completely combined. Add both types of chocolate chips until just combined.
This part is my special trick!!! Take about a tablespoonful or a little more and roll it into a ball. Place the each ball about an inch apart or so. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on the pan for 2 minutes, but no longer. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
